Woman sarpanch sanitises bank in Koraput

Koraput: Going beyond the call of duty, sarpanch Pratima Nayak of Phampuni village under Jeypore block of Koraput district sanitised a bank in the locality on Friday as others were reluctant to do the same fearing COVID-19 infection.

As per reports, an employee of Utkal Grameen Bank tested positive for COVID-19 three days ago, following which the sarpanch ordered for closure of the bank for two days.

As the bank was opened today, it required sanitisation before operations. Locals showed unwillingness for the sanitisation work fearing infection while Nayak stepped up to the occasion.

Wearing PPE kit and carrying the sanitisation equipment, the sarpanch carried out the all-important work herself.

Her exemplary act has been praised by many in the area.
