Cuttack: Parbati Das (75) of Krushna Nagar in Jajpur district, who had sustained critical injuries after a ceiling fan snapped and fell on her at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here, died late on Monday night.
The woman succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital, reports said.
The elderly woman was earlier admitted to the hospital after she sustained burn injuries. On March 8 morning, the ceiling fan fell on the septuagenarian while she was undergoing treatment in the surgery ward. She was then shifted to the ICU in the trauma care unit.
Kin of the deceased have lodged a complaint in this regard with the police, superintendent of SCB, and Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
An attendant of the woman had said that the fan was making screeching noise and the matter was brought to the notice of the hospital staff. However, no step was taken in this connection, the attendant had said.
