VSSUT shut for 8 days after employee tests positive for COVID-19

Sambalpur: Authorities of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) decided to shut the institution for eight days after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
As per the order, the VSSUT will be closed till July 11. However, the employees have been asked not to leave the headquarters.
“In pursuance to COVID-19 rule, the university will remain closed till July 11 for evolved COVID contamination situation. Further, all are instructed to remain in the headquarter, failing which disciplinary proceeding as per OCS (CC&A) rules 1962 as well as penalty will be imposed,” the VSSUT stated in a notification yesterday.
Besides, the employees, who are currently outside the headquarter, on returning, they have been directed to report to the Registrar about their arrival. They will remain in self quarantine for a period of 14 days for which the necessary leave will be debited from their account.
The initiative was taken by the Registrar after test result of an Assistant Professor of the university came out positive for COVID-19. The employee is the wife of NALCO official, who succumbed to the deadly virus recently in Angul district.
The senior official of NALCO had tested positive for COVID-19 on June 29 while undergoing treatment at VIMSAR in Burla. Next day, he was shifted to a COVID Hospital in Talcher, where he was received dead.
His 52-year-old wife, who is works as the Assistant Professor at VSSUT in Burla, has been shifted to a COVID Hospital in Cuttack after she tested positive.
Earlier, entire VSSUT campus was sanitised after the faculty member of the university was found positive for coronavirus.
