Specials squads formed to enforce safety protocols in Bhubaneswar for COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of sudden spike in number of COVID cases in some States, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formed five special squads for enforcement of COVID-19 guidelines in Bhubaneswar.
As per the fresh guidelines issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) yesterday, the squads are visiting the market places to ensure strict observance of COVID-l9 safety protocols such as mandatory wearing of mask, maintaining physical distancing in all public places, informed the BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Monday.
“The enforcement squads are monitoring the situation closely in market areas. They are announcing through mikes in shopping malls and religious paces to follow the COVID safety protocols. The volunteers have been requested to join the campaign to create awareness among public about rise in COVID infections. We are also trying to ensure COVID-19 safety protocol compliance through social media,” he said.
Speaking about the COVID guidelines, he said that wearing mask in public places is mandatory and it had never been withdrawn despite decline in COVID cases in the city.
“Even as the single-day spike has declined in Bhubaneswar, we need to take precautions in battle against the virus,” Chaudhary added.
The BMC resumed enforcing the COVID-19 safety protocols in the city soon after receiving instructions from the SRC yesterday.
In the wake of new strains of Coronavirus, the SRC has issued a 10-point guidelines for the district authorities, civic bodies and SPs to be followed at all levels.
