Bhubaneswar: Ashutosh Mishra, Special Public Prosecutor, attached to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Cell Division, Cuttack for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.1,00,000/-(Rupees one lakh) from the complainant in order to help him in a Vigilance Case charge sheeted against him and pending in the Court of Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna. In this connection, Vigilance Cell P.S. Case No. 2 on July 1, was registered.
Mishra was arrested on July 3 in the above mentioned case and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.
Following the trap, search was conducted at the residential house located at Radhakrushna Nagar, Bhawanipatna of Mishra and assets worth Rs 85,02,276 was detected including cash of Rs.15,60,140.
During the course of further enquiry, income and expenditure of Mishra was ascertained and he was found in possession of assets worth Rs. 75,65,682/- disproportionate to his known sources of income.
In this connection, Vigilance Cell P.S. Case No. 03 dtd. 19.7.2021 U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 as amended by P.C. (Amendment) Act. 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
Mishra has been on Friday was remanded in the above mentioned case to judicial custody by Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.
The appointment of Mishra as Special Public Prosecutor (Vigilance) Bhawanipatna has been terminated by the Government on 16.7.2021.
