Second consecutive single-day spike; Odisha reports 3996 Covid-19 cases

Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to report nearly 4,000 COVID-19 positive cases for the second consecutive day on Friday and it is now among the top six states in the country who have reported spike in cases..

In the last 24 hours, as many as 3996 persons, highest single-day spike so far, in the state tested positive for the deadly virus taking the state’s total count to 1,43,117. Yesterday, the state had reported 3991 cases.

Of the total fresh cases detected from 30 districts, 2359 have been reported from different quarantine centres while remaining 1637 are local contacts. Contact tracing and follow up action is underway, said Information and Public Relation (I & PR) Department.

Khurda recorded highest 606 fresh cases followed by Cuttack (354) and Puri (279).

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state rose to 34458. However, 1,08,001 patients have recovered in the state so far.
It is pertinent to mention here that total 50,044 number of samples were tested in the state in the last 24 hours. So far 2323641 tests have been conducted in the state.
