RRB exam: Odisha govt announces major relief for examinees

Bhubaneswar: Amid resurgence in cases of Covid-19 in several parts of the country putting authorities on alert mode, Odisha government has issued a major announcement for this year’s RRB examination candidates.

The State Health and Family Welfare Department on Tuesday informed that examinees who are set to appear the RRB exams between March 3 and 31 will not be forced to take home quarantine.

The Health department in its new letter has quoted the Chairman, Railway Recruitment Board, Bilaspur informing that around 10500 candidates are scheduled to appear for the exams at Bhubaneswar between March 3 and 31 and the admit cards for the above exams had been issued to the candidates much earlier before the revised Covid protocols were enforced in the State in view of the rise in the virus cases.

The government has mentioned that a person establishing his/her identity with a copy of the RRB Exam Admit Card will be exempted from Home Quarantine requirement. The candidates can go to their exam centres by furnishing the necessary ID and Admit card proof at railway stations and airport. Candidates have been asked to maintain strict adherence to appropriate Covid behaviour.

The collectors of all districts, Municipal Commissioners, Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport, authorities of Jharsuguda airport and the General Manager (Operations), East Coast Railway have been asked to take necessary action at their end to see that the candidates appear their exams in a hassle-free manner.

In its revised Covid guidelines, the State government had earlier asked authorities to enhance surveillance on passengers disembarking at airports, railway stations coming from or through 5 high-risk States, namely Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.

It had however added that people coming from the five high-risk states would not need home isolation if they are asymptomatic and have RT-PCR negative report (done not more than 72 hours before boarding) or a Covid Vaccination Final certificate.
