Police raids Khurda sub-jail after videos of inmates smoking contraband goes viral

Khurda: Police raided the Khurda Sub-Jail on Saturday evening after six videos of prisoners smoking brown sugar and celebrating birthday parties in the jail went viral on social media earlier in the day.
In presence of the Magistrate, Sub-Collector and SDPO, the police personnel searched the jail. A platoon of police force was deployed in the jail premises.
Earlier in the day, six video clips of a jail in which prisoners were smoking brown sugar and celebrating birthday parties went viral on WhatsApp. After a probe, the place was confirmed to be the Khurda Sub Jail. The district administration then conducted a raid at the jail.
In one of the videos, one prisoner was asking someone over the phone to send brown sugar and talking about his good rapport with Jailer Krushna Chandra Rout.
