Bhubaneswar: After Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the Odisha government on Monday declared to begin plasma therapy in Ganjam district from Tuesday. As per a decision taken during a video conferencing to review strategies for the battle against COVID-19 in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said plasma therapy in Ganjam district will start from tomorrow at Tata Covid Hospital, Sitalapalli.
He further said a dedicated 100-bedded (including 16-bed ICU) COVID hospital will be set up at Amit Hospital in Berhampur. The COVID hospital will be operated by Ashwini Hospital, Cuttack. An MoU between the Ganjam district administration and Aswini Hospital, Cuttack has been signed for this initiative.
In order to strengthen the manpower in Ganjam, two IAS officers as ADMs, 25 OAS Officers, 105 ORS officers, 30 MBBS Doctors, 100 Ayush Doctors and 27 Lab Technicians have already been deployed in the district. The CM added officers of various levels including three DSPs and 10 platoon police force will also be sent.
The CM announced a financial grant of Rs 25 crore to Ganjam district from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
The ambulance service in Ganjam will be further streamlined to ensure timely response to the patients. The District Collector has been empowered to deploy as many as 100 ambulances as per the requirement.
The State government decided to involve professionals for mental health counselling during the Covid period.
Chief Minister also announced that doctors, paramedics and Class IV staff working in Covid Hospitals/ Covid Health Centre/ Covid Care Centre will get incentives of Rs 1000, Rs 500 and Rs 200 respectively per day for the number of days they are serving Covid positive patients.
ASHA workers engaged in Door-to-Door survey and special surveys to get Rs 1000 per month as incentive from July to October 2020 for the surveys.
Anganwadi Workers engaged in Door-to-Door and special surveys to get Rs 1000 per month during the period engaged for surveys.
Among others, Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro, Forest & Environment Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, Health Minister Naba Das, Chief Secretary, DGP, Chief Advisor to CM, Ganjam Collector and other officials attended the meeting through video conferencing.
