Plasma therapy brings hope to critical Covid patients in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Plasma therapy has brought hope for critical COVID-19 patients in Odisha as four out of six such patients who received the therapy are showing improvement in their condition.
The four patients are no longer in need of oxygen support and will be discharged from COVID hospital soon. Other two patients are in stable condition and are expected to be out of danger soon.
A total of eight units of plasma have been collected from four donors so far. Out of those, six have been used for four patients at SUM COVID Hospital and 2 patients at Ashwini COVID Hospital.
The plasma therapy for COVID-19 is currently being provided at SUM Hospital and KIMS in Bhubaneswar and Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack. SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack has been designated as the nodal centre of the plasma therapy.
