Paralakhemundi ACF death: Wife, cook, DFO booked for murder

Paralakhemundi: In a fresh twist in the mysterious death of Paralakhemundi Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, police on Thursday registered a murder case against three persons, including his wife Bidya Bharti in this connection.

The Paralakhemundi police of Gajapati district registered the case against wife and cook of the deceased, and Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sangram Keshari Behera.

Earlier on July 13, Soumya Ranjan’s father termed the ACF’s death as a pre-planned murder over extramarital affair. He accused Bidya Bharati, the cook and the DFO of killing Soumya Ranjan and demanded a thorough probe into the incident by Crime Branch.

Yesterday, Bidya Bharati refuted the allegations levelled by the ACF’s father and termed the death as an accident. She also accused her in-laws of spreading rumours that she has lost her metal balance.
