OUAT students sweep streets in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: From polishing shoes to sweeping streets, the protest by students from the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) entered its fifth day on Friday.

A day after the protesting students polished shoes in the streets of the State capital on Thursday, they resorted to sweeping roads on Friday to express their resentment over the educational qualification criteria for selection into different posts under the Odisha Forest Service (OFS).

On the fifth day of their protest, the students urged the state government to allow candidates from BSc Forestry degree to appear for different posts in OFS examination.

It may be recalled that on Thursday the innovative protest by the students who resorted to shining shoes of passersby had drawn immediate attention of the media and citizens alike.

Recently a similar protest was organised by some engineers, working in different franchises of the Central Electricity supply Utility Of Odisha (CESU) for the last ten years, after they were laid off from their jobs after Tata Power took over the management of CESU of the power distribution and supply five circles of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Paradeep, Dhenkanal.
