Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 graph in Odisha continues with its upward trend since the beginning of August. After registering 1600-plus cases in the last three days, Odisha reported 1734 new cases and 13 more COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
With this, the Covid-19 tally in Odisha reached 45927 on Sunday.
Of the new cases reported in the last 24 hours, 1075 were reported from quarantine centres while 659 are local contact cases, informed I& PR department. The State had witnessed the biggest single-day spike of 1833 COVID-19 cases on August 7.
As per I &PR department, Khurda district reported 342 new cases, followed by Ganjam (222), Cuttack (177), Sundergarh (126) and Nayagarh (106).
Following the 13 more COVID-19 deaths, the death toll has now reached 272 in Odisha. As per the State Health and Family Welfare Department, six persons succumbed to COVID-19 from Ganjam district, two from Koraput and one each from Bhubaneswar, Khurda, Balasore, Bargarh and Nayagarh.
A 32-year-old male Covid positive patient of Puri district died due to other health complications. As per Health and Family Welfare Department, the patient expired due to Cardiomyopathy with severe Left Ventricular dysfunction, Tubercular Peritonitis. The non-COVID death toll in Odisha now stand at 49.
Earlier on Saturday, the number of COVID-19 recoveries in Odisha crossed another milestone of 30000 after 1544 more patients recovered from the viral disease. The total number of COVID-19 recoveries in Odisha stand at 30242.
Ganjam reported the maximum number of recovered cases (560) followed by Khurda (203) and Koraput (143).
