Odisha Unlock 2.0: Schools & Colleges To Remain Shut Till August 31, Night Curfew From 9 PM – 5 AM

Bhubaneswar: Following Centre’s announcement of new guidelines for Unlock 2.0, Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy on Tuesday said that schools, colleges, other educational institutions and coaching centres will remain closed for teaching purpose till August 31.
In a press briefing, Tripathy said theaters, gyms, swimming pools, entertainment parks, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls and other similar places till the end of this month.
Similarly, Social/ political/ sports/ entertainment/ academic/ cultural/ religious functions and other large congregations.
Meanwhile, night curfew will continue to remain in force, between 9 pm and 5 am, except for essential activities in view of the rising COVID-19 cases in the state.
Weekend shutdown, which was earlier in 11 district, will now be in 10 districts – Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Jharsuguda.
On public transport systems, he said, “Though train and air services will be exempted from shutdown, we have requested the Centre to restrict any more such services from COVID-19 hotspots areas.”
He further said that clear instructions was issued to sarpanchs and collectors to ensure 100 per cent compliance of quarantine norms and they have been able to successfully achieve it.
COVID Care homes will be opened in every panchayat. Managed by sarpanchs, these homes will be used as isolation centre for symptomatic persons, he said.
