Bhubaneswar: After registering a considerable fall the daily Covid-19 positive cases and deaths on Tuesday, Odisha registered a slight rise in the positivity and death rates on Wednesday as 3,456 people tested positive for the infection while 46 patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours.
On Tuesday, the State had recorded 3,671 positive cases and 38 deaths.
With this, the State’s Coronavirus positive tally rose to 8,86,946 while death toll surged to 3,717, informed the Health and Family Welfare Department.
Of fresh Covid-19 cases reported from the 30 districts, 1,973 are quarantine cases, while the rest 1,843 are local contact cases, informed I&PR Department.
Khurda district, which included the capital Bhubaneswar, reported the highest 499 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (480), Puri (289), Jajpur (267), Bhadrak (194), Mayurbhanj (180), Balasore (174), Kendrapada (147), Nayagarh (126) and Angul (118).
As many as 20 districts reported cases below 100. Those are- Sundargarh (90), Malkangiri (82), Jagatsinghpur (81), Koraput (81), Keonjhar (73), Bargarh (69), Dhenkanal (57), Rayagada (56), Sonepur (43), Nabarangpur (42), Sambalpur (39), Kandhamal (31), Balangir (28), Boudh (25), Kalahandi (21), Jharsuguda (20), Ganjam (19), Gajapati (17), Nuapada (16) and Deogarh (11).
In terms of death, seven fatalities each were reported from Khurda district while five each from Bargarh, Cuttack and Puri, four each from Jharsuguda and Sambalpur, three each from Sundargarh and Jagatsinghpur. Two each deaths Ganjam, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj and one each from Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Koraput and Sonepur districts.
With this, Odisha now has 34,216 active cases, while 8,48,960 people have recovered from the disease so far, including 4,159 on Tuesday.
The State has so far tested over 1,32,17,807 samples for Covid-19, including 61,608 in the last 24 hours. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 6.68 per cent.
