Odisha logs 7395 Covid-19 cases, 40 deaths in 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 single-day cases continue to dip in Odisha with the State recording 7,395 new cases on Saturday. With this, the positive tally in the State surged to 8,06,094, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

At least 40 patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 succumbed in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 2,952 in the State, a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department said.

Of the fresh cases detected across 30 districts of the State on Sunday, a total of 4,169 cases were reported from quarantine centers, while the rest 3,226 were local transmission cases.

Khurda district, which included the State’s capital Bhubaneswar, topped the number of cases with 1,069 infections in the last 24 hours. This was followed by Cuttack (868), Jajpur (516), Angul (443), Mayurbhanj (384) and Puri (356), said a data shared by the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Other districts which reported cases between 100 and 350 are- Kendrapara (341), Jagatsinghpur (288), Balasore (285), Sundargarh (267), Nayagarh (243), Bhadrak (238), Nawarangpur (196), Bargarh (171), Kalahandi (166), Koraput (161), Keonjhar (158), Sambalpur (137), Boudh (133), Rayagada (125) and Malkangiri (110).

Dictricts which detected below 100 cases are- Sonepur (91), Dhenkanal and Bolangir (81 each), Kandhamal (76), Ganjam (69), Deogarh (57), Gajapati (52) and Nuapada (22).

The active cases in the State stood at 78,687, while 7,24,402 patients have been cured or recovered.

The State has so far tested a total of 1,21,11,143 samples including 70,313 on Friday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 6.66 per cent.
