Odisha logs 6,097 new Covid positive cases, 44 deaths

Bhubaneswar: Odisha recorded 6,097 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday. With this, the positive tally in the State surged to 8,37,226, the State I&PR Department informed today.
However, with at least 44 patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 succumbing in the last 24 hours, the death toll has surged to 3,167 in the State, a data shared by the Health Department said.
Of the fresh cases detected across 30 districts of the State on Tuesday, a total of 3,446 cases were reported from quarantine centers, while the rest 2,651 were local transmission cases.
Khurda district with 1017 infections in the last 24 hours has the maximum cases among all districts followed by Cuttack (647), Jajpur (434), Balasore (392), Mayurbhanj (297), Angul (295), Puri (291) and Kendrapara (253).
Other districts which reported cases between 250 and 100 are- Bhadrak (246), Jagatsinghpur (226), Sundargarh (208), Nabarangpur (146), Boudh (130), Koraput (126), Nayagarh and Rayagada (120 each), Kandhamal (112), Bargarh (107) and Sambalpur (101).
The districts which reported below 100 cases are-Malkangiri (84), Kalahandi and Bolangir (77 each), Dhenkanal (73),Sonepur (64), Gajapati (48), Ganjam (45), Jharsuguda (42) and Nuapada (17).
The active cases in the State stood at 69,333, while 7, 64,673 patients have been cured or recovered.
The State has so far tested a total of 1, 23, 87,968 samples including 68,778 on Wednesday.
