Odisha logs 3,554 Covid-19 cases, 47 deaths in 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 8,97,062 while the death toll surged to 3,848 after as many as 3,554 people tested positive for the virus and 47 patients died due to the infection in the last 24 hours, informed the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department on Saturday.

With this, the active cases in the State remained at 33,019 while 8,60,142 patients have recovered, including 3,644 on Friday, from the disease so far.

Of the fresh Covid-19 cases reported from 30 districts, 2,028 are quarantine cases, while the rest 1,526 are local contact cases, added I&PR Department.

As per a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department, Khurda district, which included Bhubaneswar, reported the highest 651 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (501), Balasore (271), Jajpur (256), Puri (233), Mayurbhanj (196), Bhadrak (158), Jagatsinghpur (145), Angul (133), Kendrapara (119) and Nayagarh (100).

As many as 19 districts reported cases below 100. Those are- Sundargarh (71), Koraput (69), Keonjhar (65), Rayagada (61), Malkangiri (61), Dhenakanl (56), Kandhamal (38), Boudh (33), Bargarh (31), Bolangir (31), Sonepur (29), Gajapati (24), Ganjam(22), Nabarangpur (22), Kalahandi (21), Nuapada (20), Sambalpur (18), Jharsuguda (11) and Deogarh (8).

In terms of deaths, nine fatalities were reported from Khurda district, five each from Bargarh, Cuttack and Nayagarh, three from Sundargarh, Puri and Ganjam. Two each deaths were reported from Angul, Jajpur and Kendrapara while one each from Balasore, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj and Nuapada districts.

Fifty-three other coronavirus patients have died due to co-morbidities to date. The State has so far tested over 1,34,86,082 samples for Covid-19, including 68,695 in the last 24 hours.
