Odisha logs 3, 087 new Covid cases, 45 deaths in 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 positive case tally in Odisha climbed to 9,12,887 after as many as 3,087 more people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours while 45 more mortalities took the death toll to 4,063 in the State, according to the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department.
With this, the active cases in the State increased to 31,231 while 8,77,540 patients recovered, including 3,233 on Wednesday, from the disease so far.
Of the fresh infections reported from 30 districts, 1,775 are quarantine cases while the rest 1,312 are local contact cases, added the I&PR Department.
As per a data shared by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department, Khurda district, which included the capital Bhubaneswar, reported the highest 584 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Cuttack (462), Balasore (246), Jajpur (205), Puri (189), Mayurbhanj (154), Bhadrak (145) and Nayagarh (110).
As many as 22 districts registered cases below 100 in the last 24 hours. Those are- Dhenkanal (95), Malkangiri (84), Angul (78), Koraput (77), Keonjhar (72), Kendrapara (70), Jagatsinghpur (60), Sundargarh (59), Bargarh (36), Boudh (35), Nabarangpur (35), Sambalpur (31), Kandhamal (28), Sonepur (24), Ganjam (22), Balangir (21), Rayagada (21), Kalahandi (17), Gajapati (16), Nuapada (6), Jharsuguda (5) and Deogarh (3).
In terms of deaths, nine fatalities were reported from Khurda district, five each from Nayagarh and Puri, four each from Ganjam and Keonjhar, three each from Bargarh and Sundargarh districts. Two each deaths were reported from Angul, Cuttack and Sambalpur and one each from Balasore, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj and Nabarangpur.
The State has so far tested over 1,38,33,870 samples for Covid-19, including 74,000 in the last 24 hours.
