NTPC Talcher Kaniha provides water to villages
Kaniha: NTPC Talcher Kaniha is fulfilling the requirement for adequate drinking water for villages around its plant in view of the rise in temperature and shortage of ground water level during summer season. The station is supplying drinking water to 24 peripheral villages under its CSR initiative. This initiative is to ensure supply of clean drinking water in the peak summer months when scarcity of water for households can become a concern.
The potable water provided by NTPC is fit for consumption and will also lead to a reduction in the risk of any water-borne disease in these areas. NTPC Talcher Kaniha is also supplying 1.5 lakh liters of water every day to Mahanadi Coal Limited (MCL) which is then distributed to nine other villages in the area. Catering to the health and hygiene needs of people in surrounding areas of the plant is one of the key focus areas for CSR activities of NTPC Talcher Kaniha.
In addition, the power station is providing water to four peripheral villages through a piped drinking water system, four additional villagers are being planned to provide potable water in near future.
