Naveen expresses displeasure over Covid management in twin city

Bhubaneswar: With daily huge spike in Covid-19 cases in the twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction over the Commissionerate of Police’s failure to ensure strict compliance of the COVID-19 rules.

During a review meeting on the COVID management through video conference today, the Chief Minister stated it is discouraging to find that the COVID law was not strictly complied with in the Commissionerate area in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. However, he praised other parts of the State for ensuring strict adherence of the COVID law.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police Abhay, who attended the review meeting, briefed on the steps taken by the Commissionerate of Police to strictly enforce the COVID-19 rules in the Twin City.

Patnaik also directed the District Magistrates to expand the economic programme to protect the rural people from the economic downturn. He emphasized to provide more funding for various livelihood projects.

He also said the priority was to implement the package announced for agriculture, fisheries, horticulture, forestry and soil conservation.

He advised farmers, SHG members, MSME and weavers to ensure more loan assistance.

The Chief Minister lauded the work of all the COVID fighters, including Doctors and Health Workers of the Health Department.

The meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister’s Private cum Secretary (5-T) VK Pandian.

Among others, Health Minister Naba Das, the Chief Secretary, the Development Commissioner, the Special Relief Commissioner and other senior officials attended in the meeting.
