Murder accused nabbed with brown sugar worth Rs 3.5 Cr in Khurda

Khurda: Another accused in the murder of Dahimachhagadia’s Lala Pradhan was arrested on Wednesday and brown sugar worth Rs 3.5 crore seized from his possession, informed DIG (Central Range) Ashish Kumar Singh.
Reportedly, Lala Pradhan (32) had been shot dead by some miscreants at about 7.30 AM on June 14 this year in Dahimachhagadia village. A complaint in this regard had been lodged at Sadar Police Station by his nephew Srinibasa Nayak.
On June 15, police nabbed an accused Gudu alias Sanjaya Behera and a special team was formed under the leadership of Khurda SDPO SK Mishra to nab the other culprits.
Police today received reliable information that another accused identified as Miki alias Manoranjan Sahu (20) of Bhaliabadi was coming on a motorcycle from Jatani side on Khurda-Puri road. It was also learned that he was in possession of brown sugar.
At around 6.20 AM, he was intercepted by police and was searched in presence of Executive Magistrate and witnesses. A motorcycle, a mouser gun, Rs 16,500 cash, one mobile phone, one carry bag, one weighing machine and around 3.6 kg brown sugar was seized from his possession.
The approximate cost of the seized brown sugar is Rs 3.5 crore. A case in this connection has been registered at Khurda Model Police Station under various sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Arms Act. Sahu is also wanted in another case.
