Monsoon to hit Odisha in less than a week

Bhubaneswar: Southwest monsoon is likely to hit Odisha in less than a week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Sunday.
It is likely to advance into some parts of Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the period, it predicted.
On the other hand, a low pressure area is likely to form over the east-central Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours (by June 9). It is very likely to move west northwestwards and become more marked during the subsequent 24 hours (by June 10), the IMD said.
Under its impact, light to moderate rainfall at most places over the districts of Odisha with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Koraput, and Nabarangapur on June 10 and enhance rainfall activity likely to extend over interior Odisha in subsequent two days.
