Modi lauds Silu Nayak who trains youths to join armed forces

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appreciated Silu Nayak of Arakhuda in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, who imparts free training to youths to join Indian armed forces.

Popularly known as Nayak sir, the youth from Odisha’s Arakhuda got recognition in PM’s monthly radio programme to the nation ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

“There is a gentleman in Arakhuda in Odisha – Nayak Sir. Although his name is Silu Nayak, everyone addresses him as Nayak Sir. In reality he is a man on a mission! He imparts free training to the youth who want to join the army,” the PM said.

“The name of the organisation of Nayak Sir is Mahaguru Battalion. The training touches upon all the aspects from physical fitness to interviews and writing to training. You will be surprised to know that the people this organization has trained have secured their places in uniformed forces such as the Army, Navy, Air Force, CRPF and BSF,” the PM added.

Nayak had tried to get recruited in Odisha Police but could not succeed. Despite that he has made many youth worthy of national service.

“By the way, you will also be amazed to know that Silu Nayakji had himself tried to get recruited in Odisha Police but could not succeed. Despite this, on the basis of his own training, he has made many youth worthy of national service. Come, let us all wish Nayak Sir greater success for preparing more heroes for our country,” the PM added.

Nayak is overwhelmed for the recognition of his work by the PM. Sharing his thought, he said, “I am very happy today. Despite several obstacles, I continued my efforts and today I feel that my aim has been fulfilled.”

“At present, about 60 to 70 youths are receiving training at my training centre. Many more youths are willing to join my camp, but I refuse them due to lack of sufficient accommodation,” Nayak said.
