Mobile app for hoteliers to track criminals in Twin City

Bhubaneswar: As part of the strategies to nab anti-socials and criminals at the earliest, the Commissionerate Police will soon come up with a mobile application, Atithi, for hoteliers to share data on their guests with the local cops.
Through the app, hotel owners will provide information about their guests under the Sarais Act 1867.
Police said action will be taken against hotels that show negligence and do not submit details about their guests. Besides, local police have been asked to conduct surprise inspection and take action against the violators. Hoteliers should also check authenticity of ID proofs submitted by the guests on their arrival.
It is pertinent to mention here that two criminals had stayed in two hotels in Patia area here before looting Rs 27 lakh from an ATM on October 10 last year. During their stay in one of the hotels, the accused had brought a gas cylinder and later robbed the ATM using gas cutter.
