Misbehaviour with teacher will not be tolerated: School and Mass Education Minister

Bhubaneswar: Misbehaviour with teachers engaged on COVID-19 duty at Temporary Medical Camps (TMCs) across the state will no more be tolerated and stern action will be taken against those found guilty, said School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Wednesday.

Speaking to mediapersons, the Minister said around 62.5 thousand teachers are contributing to the state government’s fight against coronavirus risking their own lives. However, it is found that some anti-socials are misbehaving with the teachers engaged in various COVID-19 centres.

Citing example, the Minister said Headmaster Jagannath Nayak of Khetamundali School in Jagannathprasad block in Ganjam district was assaulted on May 22 while  PET Laxmidhar Parida of Totapada High School in Khaira block of Balasore district was thrashed on May 24.  Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been appraised of the two incidents while discussion has also been held with the Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy in this regard, Dash said.

Such anti-social activities will never be tolerated, he added.

Meanwhile, praising the services rendered by the teachers in this crisis, the government has advised them not be distracted by such incidents.
