Marginal dip in Covid cases as Odisha logs 2,917 positives, 45 deaths

Bhubaneswar: New COVID-19 cases dipped below 3,000 in Odisha while 45 succumbed to the deadly infection in a single day, informed the State Government on Saturday.
Odisha reported 2,917 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, of which 1677 were from quarantine centres and 1,240 were local contacts, the State Information & Public Relation Department stated.
Of new cases, Khurda district registered the highest 549 single-day COVID infections followed by Cuttack district with 422 cases and Balasore district with 237 cases.

With this, the total caseload increased to 9,19,026 with 30,557 active cases in Odisha.
Meanwhile, the deadly virus claimed 45 more lives in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,154 so far.
While Khurda district continues to be in top position with highest 9 single-day deaths, Bargarh and Cuttack districts reported 5 each in a day.
Four COVID-19 patients died in Dhenkanal, 3 each in Koraput, Sambalpur, Sundargarh and Sonepur districts, 2 each in Nayagarh and Puri districts and 1 each succumbed to the virus in Angul, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Kendrapara and Mayurbhanj districts.
