Bolangir: A family feud turned tragic after a man allegedly strangled his wife to death with an electric wire at Dhamandanga village under Kantabanji police limits in Bolangir district late on Monday night.
The accused identified as Jayaram Majhi has been detained by police.
According to police sources, a scuffle started between Jayaram and his wife Urmila last night over some petty issues. During the quarrel, Jayaram lost his cool and strangled his wife with the help an electric wire. She died on the spot.
Urmila’s body was found lying inside the house with blood stain on her neck. Neighbours immediately informed the parents of the deceased.
Urmila’s father Trilochan rushed to the spot and informed the police. Alleging his daughter was murdered, Trilochan lodged a complaint with the police.
Komna police seized the body and sent it for an autopsy. Further investigation is on, police said.
Jayaram had married Urmila of Kantabanji five years ago. They have two sons and a daughter, reports said.
