Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly raped a 32-year-old married woman in her house on the pretext of returning borrowed money in Gadakana area of Odisha capital. According to a complaint lodged by the victim with the Mancheswar police, she runs a shop located in Gajapati Nagar area of the city while the accused, identified as Mrutyunjaya Patra of Kendrapara, was one of its regular customers.
He had taken a loan of Rs 50,000 from the woman and assured her to repay the amount within a month. As he delayed the repayment, she requested him to repay the money. The accused then told the woman to return her the amount at her house on March 29. He reached the house in the evening when her husband was not present and raped the woman.
He also recorded a video of the incident and threatened her not to disclose the matter. Acting on the complaint, police have started an investigation into the incident. The woman was sent to the Capital Hospital here for medical examination.
