Man hangs self after attacking 2 of family; daughter dead, wife critical in Jagatsinghpur
Jagatsinghpur: A man allegedly died by suicide after carrying out a murderous attack on his own family that led to death of his daughter and left his wife battling for life in Jagatsighpur.
The incident occured at Jota Chandpatna village late on Friday night, sending a shockwave across the district. The local police visited the village on Saturday morning and launched a probe into the case.
According to sources, Loknath Pal, who was in his early fifties hacked his wife Kalpana and daughter Madhusmita with a sharp-edged weapon last night. The furious man then hanged himself in the house.
The mother-daughter duo was rushed to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition. While Madhusmita, who was in her early twenties, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment, the condition of her mother is stated to be critical. She was referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
While the incident is suspected to be fallout of family dispute, the Sadar police are yet to establish the exact reason behind the incident and launched a probe.
According to village sources, Loknath’s son who reportedly married to a girl of other caste, is living in Bhubaneswar.
