Locals extend helping hands in dousing fire in Simplipal

Baripada: At a time when Forest Department staffand Fire Services personnel are working tirelessly to control the Similipal National Park wildfire, locals have extend helping hands in dousing the flame.

The concerned DFO, OIC, Range Officer, and locals joined hands in extinguishing ground fire in Rairangpur Forest Division.

On the other hand, the staff have left no stone unturned to douse the wildfire as efforts in this regard are underway during night time also.

“All efforts are being made to douse the forest fire in Noto Reserve Forest, Simlipal Reserve Forest, Bangriposi Forest Range, and Baripada Forest Range of the Simlipal Tiger Reserve. Forest fire points are being attended on hourly basis,” said Santosh Joshi, DFO, Baripada.

The Mayurbhanj Collector informed that wildfire in the deciduous Sal mixed forest of the Simlipal Tiger Reserve is under control. Field staff and Fire squads have contained the ground fire using advanced satellite-based fire response system and modern field equipment. No loss of wildlife has been reported, the official said.
