Khurda: In a major step, the Khurda district administration announced complete shutdown in its Sub-division till June 30 to break the chain of the spread of coronavirus. The restriction will remain in force for 16 hours between 2 PM and 6 AM everyday, informed district Collector Sitanshu Rout.
The decision was taken following the sudden spurt in positive cases in various areas in the sub-division in last couple of days. The order will be enforced in areas including Khurda, Begunia, Bolagarh, Banapur, Tangi and Chilika, excluding BMC area, the Collector said.
“The shutdown has been announced as it is observed that people are crowding markets unnecessarily and violating the lockdown guidelines. Only medicine shops and petrol pumps will remain open. And, construction and other industry works will be debarred from the 16-hour shutdown till June 30,” he informed.
However, people can buy essential items from 6 AM to 2 PM daily during the shutdown, the Collector added.
