Bhawanipatna: A jawan of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) was found dead in a canal on Nandol-Kendupati road under Junagarh police limits in Kalahandi district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Biswajit Mangaraj, a resident of Golamunda area.
Sources said Mangaraj was posted at ITB camp in Jaring. Last evening, he was returning to his house after taking leave. It is suspected that while the jawan was driving, his motorcycle skidded off the road and fell into the canal leading to his death.
Finding his body floating in the canal this morning, some locals informed the police. Later, the police reached the spot and started investigating into the matter.
