Bhubaneswar: With an aim to provide social security to children with special needs and senior citizens, the State government decided to construct the Integrated Infrastructure Complexes in all districts in a phased manner as per its 5T action plan.
During a meeting on Tuesday the State Cabinet approved a proposal of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department in connection with the Integrated Infrastructure Complexes.
In the first phase 10 complexes will come up in Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Ganjam and Nabarangpur districts. The complexes will be constructed from the allocation made in the State Budget. One such complex in Sundargarh district will be funded out of the District Mineral Fund (DMF).
The Integrated Infrastructure Complexes will be upgraded as ‘Centres of Excellence’ which will include old age home, home for destitute, physiotherapy centre, medical unit, rehabilitation centre and special schools for visually impaired, hearing impaired and those with intellectual disabilities.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal to implement the Rejuvenating Watersheds for Agricultural Resilience through Innovative Development (REWARD) project at an expenditure of Rs 500 cr for a period of six years starting from April 2021.
A proposal to frame the Odisha Civil Services (Method of Conducting Physical Standard Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test and Discontinuance of Career Assessment) rules 2021 received the Cabinet nod.
A total of 27 proposals were approved by the State cabinet during the meeting.
