Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rainfall alert in the next 24 hours on Thursday.
The well-marked low pressure area over north coastal Odisha and neighbourhood now lies over north interior Odisha and adjoining Jharkhand, with associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.
It is very likely to move nearly westward across Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh gradually during next 3-4 days.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at most places over the districts of north Odisha and south interior Odisha and at many places over south coastal Odisha in the next 24 hours.
Red Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at a few places with isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely to occur over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Sundergarh and Deogarh.
-Water logging and Flash flood in some places.
-Possible damage to informal road and kutcha houses.
-Landslides in hilly areas.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, and Balasore. The warning has been issued for all these districts till 0830 hours of August 21.
Day 2 ( Valid from 0830 hrs IST of August 21 to 0830 hrs IST of August 22)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.
As per the latest IMD’s weather bulletin, a fresh low pressure area is likely to develop over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighborhood around August 23,2020.
Under its impact, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at many places over the districts of north Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, and Dhenkanal. (The warning valid from August 22 to 0830 hrs of August 23).
As per IMD, several parts of Odisha will continue to experience light to moderate rainfall while some districts will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall till August 25.
