Bolangir: At least two persons were killed and several others are feared dead in a fierce clash between two rival groups over a suspected past enmity at Jarasinga village under Deogaon police limits in Bolangir on Saturday.
As per reports, one Dhanamata Raut of Jarasingha Baharapada suffered a heavy loss when a fire broke out in his mutton-cum-loose petrol shop a few days back.
Following the incident, Dhanamata allegedly attacked Karna Suna and Sripati Bhesara of neighbouring Harijanapada village suspecting their involvement in the fire mishap. Dhanamanta alleged that these two persons had intentionally set his shop on fire.
Critical, both Karna and Sripati were rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for treatment where the latter succumbed to his injuries.
In a fit of rage, several people from Harijanapada on Saturday barged inside the house of Dhanamanta and attacked Dhanamanta, his family members and other associates with sharp weapons.
When police reached the spot, it could only find Dhanamanta’s body lying in a pool of blood while others have gone untraceable. His family members are also feared dead, sources said.
In view of the prevailing situation, police forces have been deployed in the village to ward off any fresh trouble. Meanwhile, police have initiated an investigation to nab all the accused. Dhanamanta’s family members are also being traced.
