Govt to launch telemedicine service from July 20

Bhubaneswar: Considering the issues faced by a normal patient to visit a hospital amid the COVID-19 restrictions, Odisha Health Department has decided to launch telemedicine service at 41 health care institutions in the State, informed Minister Naba Kishore Das on Thursday.
The telemedicine service will be made available at all 30 District Headquarter Hospitals (DHHs) in the State, seven Government Medical Colleges, Rourkela Government Hospital, Bhubaneswar-based Capital Hospital, Cuttack-based Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre and Sisubhavan.
While telemedicine service at the hospitals will be available during the operating hours of the OPD i.e. from 8 AM to 5 PM, it will be available round the clock at medical colleges. Through this patients can directly call the doctors for consultation regarding their diseases.
For this OCAC will provide two mobile sets along with SIM cards to each health care institution. The phone numbers will be made public soon for the benefit of the people, said Das.
