Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will distribute rice and pulses to beneficiaries of the State Food Security Scheme free of cost for five months from July.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed officials to provide five kg of rice per person and one kg of pulses per family covered under the State Food Security Scheme from July to November. The free food grains distribution will carried out through the public distribution scheme (PDS).
The decision has been taken to safeguard the interests of economically weaker sections hit by COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown and shutdown.
