Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted gold ornaments and cash from a couple at gunpoint in broad daylight near Bhingarpur canal road under Balianta police station on Thursday.
According to reports, the incident took place on the Thursday afternoon when the couple were returning from Bhubaneswar to their village Damodarpur, under Olatpur Police Station, through canal roads of Hanspal and Kakarudrapur.
Two bike-borne miscreants intercepted the vehicle near Bhingarpur canal road and threatened the couple at gunpoint. They snatched away gold chain, earrings and cash around Rs.8000 from the couple and fled from the spot.
On receiving information about the incident, Balianta police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter. The police have registered a case in this connection and launched a man hunt to nab the accused.
