Kalahandi: A girl was burnt to death after a fire broke out in her house at Khapramal village under the Koksara police limits in the district on Monday.
According to reports, the fire occurred due to some unknown reasons when no other family members of the girl were present in the house. The fire spread quickly engulfed the entire house. The girl was trapped inside the house as the raging inferno blocked all escape routes.
After hearing her screams neighbours rushed to the spot and tried to save the girl, but could not reach out to her. She died of the burn injuries.
Later, upon being informed, fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The Koksara police have launched a probe into the incident after sending the body for post mortem.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, it is suspected that the fire could have been caused due to leakage of LPG from a cylinder in the house.
