Gigi Hadid says Varun Dhawan made her Bollywood dream come true as actor faces backlash for kissing her

On Day 2 of Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre launch event held on April 1, American supermodel Gigi Hadid was invited as a guest. She got a grand Bollywood welcome as Varun Dhawan invited her up on stage, picked her up in his arms and then kissed her on cheeks. As the video went viral, several netizens slammed Varun as they felt that Gigi looked visibly ‘uncomfortable’. However, Gigi Hadid has reacted to it in the sweetest way possible.

GIGI HADID REACTS TO VIDEO OF VARUN DHAWAN LIFTING HER ON STAGE
Sharing a video of the moment, Gigi Hadid wrote on her Instagram stories, “@varundvn making my Bollywood dreams come true (sic).” She also shared several laughing emojis.

VARUN DHAWAN PICKS GIGI HADID IN HIS ARMS AT NMACC
In an inside video from the NMACC gala, Varun is seen performing on stage in a shimmery silver vest and black pants. Later, he calls Gigi up on the stage and holds her hand as she walks up. Once Gigi is on stage, Varun picks her up, spins her around, and brings her back to her feet. He also gives her a small kiss on her cheek. Gigi looked flustered.

VD HITS BACK AS NETIZENS TROLL HIM
Several netizens took to Twitter to lambast Varun. One of the many tweets read, “If you are a woman, you are not safe anywhere with anyone. Even if you are Gigi Hadid, invited to a party with an “elite” crowd, guys like Varun Dhawan will randomly pick you up and kiss you without your consent, all in the name of fun. Disgusting (sic).” The tweet is now deleted.

Hitting back at the Twitter user, Varun Dhawan wrote, “I guess today you woke up and decided to be woke. So lemme burst ur bubble and tell u it was planned for her to be on stage so find a new Twitter cause to vent about rather then going out and doing something about things . Good morning (sic).”

ABOUT NMACC LAUNCH
Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, also called NMACC, is stationed within Jio World Centre in Mumbai. It was inaugurated with a grand opening on March 31. The Day 2 of launch was held on April 1. The centre, which is housed within the Jio World Centre in Bandra-Kurla Complex, is Nita Ambani’s dream project. With this, she aims to preserve and promote Indian art forms.

Many popular Hollywood and Bollywood celebs attended the grand launch. Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Gigi Hadid, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Kiara Advani, Sidharth Malhotra, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Karan Johar, Zendaya, Tom Holland, and many others were in attendance.
