Ganjam Collector declares 19 Villages Containment & Buffer Zones After 12 TMC Staff Test COVID19 Positive

Berhampur: The Ganjan district administration on Sunday declared nine villages under Badapalli gram panchayat in Khallikote block as containment zones and 10 villages as buffer zones after 12 persons engaged in different Temporary Medical Camps (TMCs) tested positive for Covid-19.
The 12 staff are among the 64 Covid-19 cases detected in Ganjam district on Saturday. They were engaged in different TMCs set up to lodge returnees at Badapalli panchayat.
As per reports, Ghodapada, Sialliapata, Kurlimpur, Gundripalli, Badapallu, Sanabala, Nuapalli, Chhakasing and Devijahara villages of Badapalli panchayat have been declared as containment zones.
Similarly, Mareinuagaon, Nalasingh, Khasula, Sorisaparaganjara, Badapala, B. Bhaliapadar, P.Balarampur, Kharipalli, Kiapalli and Kumarsingh villages of the panchayat have been declared as buffer zones by district Collector Vijay Amrute Kulange.
Movement of people inside the containment zones has been strictly prohibited while movement of essential services is allowed in the villages declared as buffer zones, Kulange said in a statement.
Inspector-in-charge of Khallikote Police Station has been asked to create a temporary check post at the entry point of Badapalli gram panchayat in order to regulate entry and exit of people to and from the containment zone. The Superintendent of Policce has also been asked to provide adequate manpower and logistic support for the check posts at the marked point, the order read.
Similarly, Additional Tehsildar of Khallikote Jyotimaya Dash has been given the charge of the containment and buffer zones.
The district administration has asked the people of these zones to stay at home. While shopping establishments have been closed in the gram panchayat, the Chatrapur Sub-Collector has been given the responsibility of supplying essential and medical requirements in the zones.
Besides, all the government and private institutions within the boundary of the containment zones and buffer zones shall also remain closed till further orders, the Collector said.
Meanwhile, the Chief District Medical (CDM) and Public Health Officer (PHO) of Berhampur have been directed to carry out house to house health screening, collect swab samples of active contact and shift positive patients to designated Covid-19 hospitals.
Besides, the Block Development Officer (BDO) has been asked to barricade the entry and exit points of the containment zones and station officer of Khallikote fire station to carry out sanitisation of all the areas under the containment and buffer zones.
Ganjam reported one more positive case and one death in the last 24 hours. While the number of Covid-19 cases in the district rose to 598, the death toll shot up to four. There are 198 active cases in the district and 396 persons recovered from the disease.
