Ensure availability of isolation facilities in apartments: Govt

Bhubaneswar: Aiming at availability of sufficient isolation facilities in view of steep rise in COVID-19 cases in the state, Odisha Government has asked Commissioners of all Municipal Corporations to sensitize Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs)of apartments/colonies in their respective areas to ensure availability of isolation facilities along with all logistic for treatment of patients.
Besides, all health protocols are strictly followed without any deviation, said a notification issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department.
“it is necessary to sensitise the RWAs of apartments/colonies to ensure separate isolation rooms for the mild symptomatic positive patients with all facilities in their apartments/colonies as per COVID-19 protocol of Health and Family Welfare Department . Since RWAs play a crucial role in decision making in their campuses, their involvement is absolutely essential in establishment and management of COVID Care Homes,” the notification reads.
The RWAs will also have to be trained and tuned to coordinate with ULBs and Health Department officials as and when required, the notification added.
Earlier, instructions were issued by the department for establishment of COVID Care Homes near bigger slums for treatment of patients having mild symptoms .
