ECoR appeals not to obstruct trial run on Haridaspur-Paradip railway line

Paradip: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Saturday appealed people to allow trial run of goods trains on Haridaspur-Paradip Railway line so that it can be made fit for running of passenger trains.
The move came a day after residents of Nuagaon staged a ‘rail roko’ protest during an experimental trial run of a goods train on the route on Friday. The protestors were demanding introduction of passenger train services on the route.
“East Coast Railway appreciates the aspirations of the people of the area in and around this line for having passenger train services. ECoR appeals to you that trial runs of goods trains are necessary for the line to settle for safe train running,” the ECoR said in a statement.
The ECoR said that for passenger trains many other safety works and passenger facilities are essential. Trial runs of goods trains is a pre-step that will lead to introduction of passenger trains.
“Obstructing these goods train trial runs as happened yesterday will make the process of making this line fit for passenger trains farther into the future,” it said.
“ECoR, therefore, appeals to you to allow these goods train trial runs so that the line can be made fit for running passenger trains in the near future,” ECoR statement added.
