CRUT to resume MoCycle service in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Amidst the lockdown, Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) will resume its MoCycle service, the Public Bike Sharing (PBS) system, for residents in the state capital from May 18 (Monday).

The decision to resume the cycle service was taken after repeated requests from people as it allows them to maintain social distance amid the COVID-19 lockdown. Moreover, cyclists will avail free ride till June 30.

“As the pandemic continues to prevail, cycling is a safe way to maintain our physical and mental health. Citizens can avail free rides in a day. First 30 minutes of the ride will be free of cost. I hope more and more people would take up cycling in their daily life,” said CRUT General Manager Dipti Mahapatro.

To begin with, 300 cycles will be made available at 50 priority PBS stations across the city. Cleaning and disinfection of MoCycle will be done on daily basis.

“After completion of each ride, we will replace the cycle with a sanitised one. Citizens can check on the mobile app whether a particular bicycle is sanitised or not before using it. In larger public interest, we urge citizens to wear mask and gloves while riding cycles,” Mahapatro added.
