Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police arrested Sudhir Prusty and Sagar Prusty, two brothers, for allegedly murdering a youth near CRPF Square in Bhubaneswar.
This apart, the Nayapalli police also arrested five persons over their alleged involvement in ransacking a PCR van and thrashing the two accused.
Tension ran high near CRPF Square here yesterday as the Prusty brothers hacked Tukuna Das alias Jatia, a slum dweller of Salia Sahi here to death inside a pickup van.
When the assailants tried to flee the spot leaving the deceased in a pool of blood inside the vehicle, locals caught the two and thrashed mercilessly.
A friend of Jatia made a startling revelation before media in the case. He alleged that Jatia was killed by Sudhir and Sagar over some intimate videos of his sister.
“Sudhir and Jatia’s sister had love affair long time back. Sudhir was also a friend of the deceased. However, Sudhir and Jatia’s friendship turned sour when the former started blackmailing the sister of the deceased on the basis of the woman’s intimate videos following her marriage with another person,” said the deceased’s friend Jitendra Pradhan.
