COVID-19 cases explode in Bhubaneswar in record single-day surge

Bhubaneswar: Odisha capital Bhubaneswar witnessed steepest rise in Covid-19 cases with as many as 248 persons testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
According to the information shared by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, of the total cases 207 were detected from quarantine centres and 41 local contact cases.
With this, the total tally in Covid-19 cases in the smart city now stands at 1,717 including 870 active cases, 834 recoveries and 11 deaths.
Earlier in the day, Odisha recorded its highest single-day increase in COVID19 cases after reporting 1,594 new Coronavirus infections taking the total confirmed cases in the State to 22,693.
Moreover, six persons succumbed to virus in the last 24 hours, taking the Covid19 death toll in Odisha to 120.
This is the third consecutive day that Odisha reported over 1000 cases. On July 23, the State recorded 1,264 new cases, an increase of 186 cases from the previous day.
