Covid-19 cases cross 18,000-mark in Odisha with 673 new positives, 6 deaths

Bhubaneswar: The Covid-19 tally in Odisha rose to 18,110 with 673 new positive cases while the death toll mounted to 97 with six deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the I & PR Department on Monday.
“Regret to inform the demise of six Covid positive patients while under treatment in hospitals,” said the department.
While five deaths were from Ganjan district, the sixth patient who succumbed to the virus hailed from Gajapati district.
Out of the total fresh cases reported from 23 districts across the State, 446 were detected from different quarantine centres and 227 were local contact cases.
The maximum of 239 fresh cases were reported from Ganjam which has been the worst-hit district by the coronavirus pandemic in the State.
Similarly, Khurda and Bhadrak reported 58 cases, Kandhamal 44 cases, Koraput 41, Jagatsinghpur 36, Cuttack 32, Jajpur 28, Keonjhar 24, Bargarh 22, Gajapati 15, Jharsuguda 14, Balasore 13, Sundargarh 11, Dhenkanal 10, Angul Kendrapara, Malkanguri, Nayagarh, Puri and Sonepur reported 4 cases each, Sambalpur 3 cases and Mayurbhanj one case.
A total of 7500 RT-PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Odisha taking the cumulative number to 393602. The active cases now stood at 5533.
