COVID-19: Angul bans entry of people from Ganjam, Jajpur districts

Angul: As a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19, Angul district administration has clamped restrictions on the entry of people from Ganjam and Jajpur districts. Both the districts have now turned into COVID-19 hotspot following a sharp rise in Ganjam and Jajpur districts.
Angul district Collector, Manoj Kumar Mohanty in a statement released on Friday stated that people coming from Ganjam and Jajpur to the district are mostly found COVID-19 positive and ‘they are spreading it to others’.
“It is essential to curb the spread of coronavirus in Angul. Hence, there will be a ban on the entry of people of Ganjam and Jajpur to Angul. If anyone from Ganjam and Jajpur districts comes to Angul on compelling ground, he/she shall be kept in institutional quarantine for a period of 14 days,” said Mohanty.
As per the Angul district administration, any person violating the order, shall be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51 to 60 of the Diaster Management Act, 2005 apart from legal action under section 188 of the IPC.
Gajapati district administration on Friday clamped a complete restriction on the movement of people from the district to Ganjam and Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh.
Gajapati Collector Anupam Saha informed that apart from essential services, no other person will be allowed to move to Ganjam and Srikakulam from the district. However, there will be no restrictions on the operations of essential services including inter-district and inter-State ones.
In another development, Malkangiri district administration has also made 14 days institutional or paid quarantine mandatory for people returning from 13 districts of the State- Ganjam, Cuttack, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Bhadrak, Jajpur, Puri, Dhenkanal, Sundergarh, Nayagarh, Kendrapara, Gajapati, Balasore and Jagatsinghpur.
