Conduct test by end of March, Minister directs schools
Puri: School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash on Saturday directed schools to complete the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) pattern exams by the end of March this year.
The educational institutions, which are yet to conduct BSE pattern exams, must complete the same by March-end. As the question pattern has been changed, students must know about it, said Dash on the sidelines of his surprise visit to a school in Puri district today.
Dash paid a surprise visit to a school in Puri and directed the district education officer (DEO) to issue show-cause notice to the school’s headmistress for not following BSE pattern in conducting exam. The Minister further ordered one-day salary cut of the teachers who were absent without taking prior permission.
Later, speaking to the media, Dash said, “I had come here to take feedback from the students. I have been visiting schools and inquiring whether the remaining courses after the 30 per cent slash have been completed or not. Around 90 per cent course has been completed and it is excepted to be completed by the end of March.”
Due to changes in the pattern, the BSE had conducted exams in January and February. “Unfortunately, the exams were not conducted here in the school (to which he paid the surprise visit). Accordingly, I have instructed the DEO here to ensure the March exam must be conducted in all the schools in Puri district,” said Dash.
“I am directing the DEOs of 30 districts to ensure all schools conduct the exam which will be done by BSE in March in view of the change in exam pattern. It will help students know the question pattern for the Board exam,” added Dash.
